RIVERDALE, Md. (WDVM) – In another effort to end hunger by targeting some of these underserved communities with new ways to get out fresh meals, the Feed the Fridge program has installed the first-ever refrigerator in Prince George County. .
Feed the Fridge is growing in our region, feeding thousands of families. They just installed their 21st refrigerator in Riverdale, MD, making it the county’s first. Anyone who might need it can find the refrigerator outside the Maryland Latin American Youth Center. It will be stocked with food donated by local restaurants.
Mark Bucher, owner of Medium Rare restaurant in Bethesda and founder of Feed the Fridge, says he saw the need for a program to reach people facing food insecurity issues. They will fill the refrigerator with 100 meals a day.
“This is a community effort to solve it. We are the impetus. We’re doing everything we can, but we need everyone’s help to make it happen, and we’re happy to be here in Prince George County, ”said Bucher.
Feed the Fridge raises funds through donations to pay restaurants to provide daily meals. To make a donation, go to feedthefridge.org.
