CamSoda updates its streaming network to support language classes – TechCrunch
In order not to be outdone on other streaming sites, the adult site CamSoda [Partially NSFW] introduced language courses. That’s right: you can learn all about conjugation, declension and maybe reproduction from scantily clad teachers.
CamSoda models requested the service when they found it fun teaching people they spoke to online about language differences. Additionally, users have found that speaking with a native speaker helps them in their travel escapades. Well, it was pretty fun.
The service is quite punctual. You select a language, then select a template. The lessons are basic – you won’t translate Don Quixote from ancient Spanish in modern times – but you can learn to order a drink and chat with someone at the bar.
The service required some tweaking by CamSoda to allow teachers and students to interact. Due to the inherent latencies built into the service’s security system, they had to speed things up dramatically to ensure that students could respond to teachers on the fly. I tried the service – I learned a bit of Romanian – and found it acceptable but a bit slow. This should be fixed in the following iterations.
While some would equate the learning of naked language to a deleted scene from Idiocracy, I think this is an interesting addition to the arsenal of streamers. While most interactions on CamSoda are pretty straightforward, adding a bit of back-and-forth and chatting could help break down cultural barriers and help users see models as more than just naked people. Sper.
